Some say that Valentines day is a celebration of romantic love, of mating birds or of a martyred saint. However others associate it with the mafia and Chicago gang warfare. So to avoid any misinterpretation of our intentions Services Committee brings you the first ever Aidan's prom! Proms are traditionally held at the end of the year, so we've added the word "Halfway" in a cunning fashion to avoid the chance of anyone forgetting they still have another term and a half here.
Whilst this evening won't quite have the grandeur of a full Soc Comm ball (though we're avoiding the use of coaches for good reason) its a chance to dress nice, eat well and sing some karaoke! I've even heard rumours that a fresher this year is particularly skilled at making corsages so you can go the full way to your ideal American prom. Limos won't be provided for livers out but I'll be impressed if you turn up in one.
Dress nice, grab your dates and get your tables submitted as this one is sure to sell out and will be first come first serve!

Submissions at 12pm, Livers-in Feedback
Just a reminder to everyone to be ready for submissions for Aidan's Halfway Prom at 12pm tomorrow (assuming you're reading this Wednesday)! This formal is always a sell out so make sure you're logged in and waiting to submit a table. You can still change wine and diet information (and even swap people) for 48 hours after submissions open so if you're not 100% on the table plan don't worry, just get in what you can.
Submission Information
Submissions will open Thursday 4th Februrary at 12:00pm and close Saturday 6th February 2010 at 12:00pm
You can submit tables of 4, 8, 12 or 16 on the submissions page.
For Livers-in
If you're a liver out you can stop reading and go cook some pasta, or whatever it is that livers out spend most time doing. For everyone in college there's a meeting of House Committee next Monday (8th Feb) that I will be attending along with my food and corridor reps. This meeting involves the members of staff responsible for admin, maintenance, cleaning and food so if you've got something you want to say then now's the time to say it!
For feedback about college food please email Sam Stephenson - samuel.stephenson@durham.ac.uk

Aidan's Halfway Prom, 11th February 2010
Dress nice, grab your dates and get your tables submitted as this one is sure to sell out and will be first come first serve!
Submissions
- Subs open 12pm Thursday 4th February
- Subs close 12pm Saturday 6th February - no changes to wine after this date
You can submit tables of 4, 8, 12 or 16 on the submissions page. Be there on the dot on Thursday as this is the last formal of term and tends to sell out quickly!
Payments
- £4 Livers-in
- £5 Livers-out
- £5.50 Wine
Payment must be in by midnight Monday 8th (last pigeon hole check at midnight). Tables not paying by this time will get hit by the mob (and no formal) unless you've contacted me explaining why you haven't paid.
For this formal we are asking that a majority of payments are made by cheque as we have been warned about keeping large cash sums in college. I am aware that not everyone has access to a cheque book, therefore if you are unable to pay by cheque email me as soon as possible after submitting your table and I will arrange to collect a cash payment from you.
Cheques must be written to "SAC JCR Account". I will be leaving a stack of envelopes by the pigeon holes as I like recycling and everyone benefits. So don't worry about doing origami with some A4, just grab one at the pigeon holes.
